The Bloody Thumbs are a four piece group of reformed rock legends, famous for their sexually charged lyrics and serious licks and riffs. The founding members Doug Douglas and Mike Michaelson met in rehab (following Doug’s alcohol and drug dependency and Mike’s ongoing treatment for sex addiction) during the summer of 1990 and after a couple of unplanned acoustic sets, came together as The Bloody Thumbs.

Doug is best known for his critically acclaimed debut and concept album ‘Crusty Moon’ with his band Doug & The Sleeveless, which was big in the middle east and Asia. Regrettably, copies of the album are no longer available as the vast majority of stock was destroyed in an unexplained vinyl warehouse fire. It is rumoured that Noel Fielding owns one of the remaining copies, which influenced his ‘The Moon’ character from The Mighty Boosh television series. Doug is also credited with writing the song ‘Running Scared’ which in 2011 was performed by Eldar Gasimov and the gorgeous Nigar Jamar representing Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song went on to win the competition that year.

Mike is best known for his acting career, having entered the adult entertainment industry as a body double for the legendary John Holmes. He is subsequently credited on many VHS adult titles under his own name and carved out a career including several AVN Best Performer awards. His big budget production of ‘Muff Machine’ also won the AVN Critics Choice award. Off screen his relationships with a string of other performers, notably Traci Lords, Christy Canyon, Nina Hartley, Bunny Bleu and the love of his life Ginger Lynn, were widely publicised in the media. Mike blames the media intrusion and Charlie Sheen for the break up of his relationship with Ginger Lynn and has never been the same without her.

Doug and Mike work through their issues together on stage and have been joined by various other musicians along the way. The current line up of The Bloody Thumbs features Doug Douglas on guitar and vocals, Mike Michaelson on Bass and vocals, Stefan Stevens on guitar and vocals and JFK on drums and caffeine.

As well as playing tracks from Doug’s back catalogue and the Crusty Moon album, such as ‘Love Melons’ and the politically charged ‘Gangster Motherfuckers’, The Bloody Thumbs also have a wide and varied collection of their own songs and are currently in the process of releasing an EP and recording videos and an album planned for release in early 2014.
